I'm sure many of you reading this have your own version of the bad contractor story, but this team is one of those rare finds. They perform high quality work in partnership with you. This team does not take shortcuts and the end result reflects it. All of the work is done on schedule and on budget. No surprise costs halfway through the project. After interviewing 4 other companies, it was obvious that the Basement Builders of NY were our favorite. We had a tricky basement with columns that were not spread evenly. What we wanted was going to be hard to implement without messing with the foundation. Dave pulled a magical solution and voila! we had a detailed basement design. It was obvious that the team have been in business for a while and had solutions to many complex problems. The team that executed the job was top notch. They all paid attention to details, never minded our last minute changes and all became like part of the family. Dave always took our needs very seriously. You could tell he cared when he would call you at 10 pm suggesting a solution or a better idea. The design, implementation, and material used (electric, carpentry, finishing) were second to none. The knowledge in audiovisuals also was a plus as we did not have to hire a new contractor to design and build the theater room. This saved us a significant sum of money. We hired Dave to finish our complete wreck of a basement and he did an amazing job! Everything from proposal to materials selection to ongoing work was done professionally, far exceeding my expectations. Dave responded to my requests for eco-friendly materials, including top-of-the-line wool carpet, with a friendly and personable attitude, and really made the lengthy process more tolerable. His entire crew of contractors were clean, professional and friendly. Honestly, I never thought the basement project would ever get done, but once the final inspection was complete, I realized it was completely worth it. I smile every time I go downstairs! Dave accommodated our low-ceiling areas as well as gave us a full bathroom, laundry room, bedroom with egress window and an entertainment space...adding nearly 1000 sq feet of living space that doesn't feel like a basement. Would we recommend Dave and Basement Builders of NY? Yes. A thousand times, yes.

The final inspection isn't until tomorrow, but I wanted to say that we are thrilled with the results. We asked for a cozy basement in time for Thanksgiving and you delivered a beatiful basement exactly as specified for exactly the price quoted in the estimated time frame. Two weeks before Thanksgiving. When you came in for an estimate, you were by far the most well prepared and the best listener. While our basement project was not a particularly complicated layout you were very thoughtful about the details. Little things like the placement of heaters and vents, how to place the dehumidifier on the unfinished side behind a vent, where we might place television hookups in case we add a TV later. You suggested, and did move a bit of ductwork to increase the ceiling height in the main part of the basement. The work itself was of high quality and we appreciated your attention to quality control. Any small imperfections were quickly remedied or touched up without our asking. You left the manual to the thermostat and new municipal water pressure powered sump. You even left a little key/pin for unlocking the door on top of the moulding. You answered all of our questions during the process promptly and we only needed to ask things once. Everyone that worked on the project was very professional, took care entering and leaving the house and did a nice job. I don't know how long you've been using the app/website, but it was great. The calendar meant we knew what was happening when and how long it would take. Selecting a paint color and carpet was easy. With the app I didn't feel like I had to check in all the time. I pretty much knew what was going on. You even uploaded some before pictures and reference pictures of wire placement and such before the sheetrock went up. Thank you for giving us the basement we wanted without the hassles we didn't.

From start to finish my basement project exceeded expectations. When the sump flooded after a lightening strike in Webster, you and Dick Roberts assured me you would take care of the soggy carpet and odor and bring the basement back to livable space for my grandchildren to play. That was done immediately, and Dick's loaner carpet enabled the kids to still go in the back basement to play ping pong. Care was taken to leave the carpet on the steps until replacement. Things I would not have thought about, you both knew what my immediate and longer term needs were. You did the work in increments -- each time well planned with good communication during the remodel of sump area, outside work, patching ceiling, painting (Charlie was quick, thorough, professional, helpful in laying out my shop vac filter so I could see it needed replacing, expert eye for painting), patching the walls, carpeting (Dick and his help delivers excellent workmanship), and recommending ideas and then listening and catching the gist easily and offering suggestions in a friendly and unhurried way, yet staying on task. You have a way of organization and thinking that is steady and consistently "safe" for the homeowner to know that their project is in capable hands. Your estimates were clear and fair. I would have you back for any future projects with no reservations. Thank you!

Dave Panzera and his team at Basement Builders of NY fixed up my basement and I believe the value they provided is unmatched here in western New York. Our house is 30 years old and was waterproofed and finished long before we bought it - and not very well. We had some minor water problems, and to get them under control I needed to rip out a few sections of drywall and insulation myself. Other contractors wanted to put a “band aid” fix in place. Dave helped me assess the situation and made some simple, down-to-earth recommendations based on what would be the right thing to do, I never felt like he was trying to “sell” me on anything. He explained in great detail what materials would be used, how the work would be done, and he answered all my questions. And, he worked out a plan for me in a budget that we could afford. Dave and his team handled everything the job needed - waterproofing, insulation, framing, electric, carpet, etc. Since the job was completed, our basement has been just a few degrees cooler than the upstairs, and the humidity has stayed right around 45% without having to use a dehumidifier. If you’re going to have work done on your basement, definitely consider Basement Builders of NY.

Basement Builders finished our full basement 8 years ago and it is still the best room in our house! Carolyn and I exercise in the basement most days of the week. Our two teenagers enjoy the basement as a comfortable place to watch their favorite TV shows, play video games, and hang out with friends. We've all had memorable parties in the basement--office parties, birthday parties, Halloween parties, and others. The bar area is an inviting place to congregate--as we had hoped. The adjacent open floor space is great for dancing and socializing (and running around for our toddler guests). Dave and his crew did a great job working out the floor plan with me and making it all come together so beautifully and functionally. Can't say enough good things about the result--from the stone work on a back wall, to the custom oak and marble top bar, the built-in shelving, the sleek lines of the soffits hiding overhead duct work, the recessed and wall sconce lighting w/ dimmer switches allowing us to adapt different parts of the room to any mood. Dave worked with us to modify plans a few times along the way; he was very responsive to our requests. We remain very pleased to have been a Basement Builder customer. We're happy now to invite Dave back to work on some new projects for us, including a new deck.

Dave and his crew did a remarkable job building our new addition, which is a new master bathroom/laundry room extending off our existing master bedroom. This involved excavating to build a 4' crawl space, masonry work, carpentry work, roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical work, dry wall and insulation, etc. All of Dave's contractors are very professional, experienced and courteous. Our special thank you to Bob who does the carpentry and electrical work. As with any project, unforeseen issues pop up, and Dave was always there to work out these issues. Dave was very instrumental in helping us plan out our new addition. Hi, we had our basement done in October of 2008 and still couldn't be happier with the comfort of our basement. We had gotten several estimates for our basement and although Dave's prices were a bit higher, we noticed a significant difference in the products that he used and the thought that was put into building the most comfortable space. It was well worth it. Things like little heaters built into the wall have made a huge difference--we turn them on every time we go downstairs.
